Right now I figured out what coins I will be working on. Right now I am working on the Dansco 7070. I will try to complete that and once that is complete I want to do something else. I finally figured out what is was. I always loved Franklin half dollars so I decided that after the 7070 I will complete the Littleton Album Franklin half dollars 1948-1963. This set also has proofs. I think that this is what I want to do with my coin collecting. Any suggestions? I think I will love the Franklin because it is a relativity cheaper set to do. But I want unc pieces so it will take a while. I hope I am one day able to complete it.

Do it man! Just don't try to get all Full Bell lines in UNC. The 1953-s will set someone back a major chunk of change!

I always try to have two sets going, one relatively expensive and one relatively inexpensive. [NOTE: "Relatively" is a measure that's up to you.]
That way if my "relatively expensive" set gets hung while I'm waiting for the next coin I've got something else to keep my numismatic "juices" going.
Right now my "relatively expensive" set is my type set (only REALISTICALLY have coins struck in the 1790's left to get) so I'm also working on a SL "Arrows at Date" set in XF/AU to keep the prices down.

Its always good to start formulating your next step. I am working on my Intercept Shield type set album right now. I don't know how far along you are, but filling that album could take awhile.
Don't be surprised if you change your mind about your next project because as you fill your album, coins you haven't considered before might really grab your interest.

Sounds like a good plan. Be warned, that 7070 can take a while. I have been filling mine since 1993. That being said, feel free to take a break along the way and do the Franklin album.

I will probably be in the same boat as jbuck... maybe one of the really old/expensive coins per year for my 7070 but that is only if I don't keep getting distracted on other things like the bullion, catching up on silver State Quarters, and Wedge Tailed Eagle offerings... but anyways good luck to you!

Complete the 7070 That was my plan back in the 90s. I'm still not there yet. Good plan if you can stick with it.

After completing an Australian gold type set of sovereigns and half sovereigns (including an Adelaide Pound, 17 coins in all), I decided to expand my numismatic horizons to include the whole of numismatics, from the beginning of coinage in ancient times and including all cultures.
The only condition is that each coin in the collection must have been at least been intended for circulation. I have made minor exception to this rule, to include patterns and major errors. Such a strategy enbles one to consider bargain buys that others may have missed.
My collection as it stands, is basically a statement of World numismatic history, covering the last 2,600 years. Colaterally, I have learned a great deal about World history of all cultures.

I should add that I am down to five holes in the 7070. None of them are cheap though.

The 7070 is gonna be tough. I hope you stick with it. I'll never do that album. It's just too much for me. Completing a Morgan set is my limit. The Franklin set is an excellent supplemental set to work on. Good luck!
PS: I usually suggest doing an Eisenhower set as well. It is very doable on any budget. Plus, you get a good mix of breeds: Cu-Ni business strikes and proofs as well as 40% silver business strikes and proofs. It's a very well-rounded set. Just another idea for ya.

I think the Franklins will be a good set to work on as they aren't too expensive. I am sure they will set you back a bit more in the UNC grades of course. Another couple sets where most of the coins can be had fairly inexpensively (in circulated grades) are Mercury dimes and Walking Liberty half dollars, so you might consider those options. However, the key dates in those series though are a bit steep.

Keep working on your type set. And start more of them. Just don't start looking for FSB Mercury dimes. I'm still trying to find them first.
