So, I went to my first ever auction, and ended up getting a couple boxes of old Lincoln Wheats - they were supposed to be from 38-46. I was kind of bummed because the first box was mostly a bust. It had been picked over and pretty much had just fine coins with no key dates. I opened the second box and the more I went through it, the more excited I got. First of all, you can tell these have been sealed in cardboard holders forever. On a couple of the coins, there were rusty staples on cellophane that were pressing up against mint condition pennies. The coins weren't too heavily impacted but you can see a few marks on some of them. But, enough about all of that. I know, I'm burying the lead! I ended up coming across about 10 1969 S Lincolns, all in pretty much mint condition, with old pencil on the cardboard holder saying things like "double Liberty?" .. oh I know. Plus, there's an 1880 IHC and a 1904 IHC and, oh yeah, the thing I just came across that almost made me .. well, you know. A beautifully toned, mint condition 1909 LWC! Not VDB, but still!! What should I do? And, sorry, I'm not giving them to you guys, so don't suggest that! lol. Should I take pics of the better ones? Which is a lot of them! Send them in for grading? Help! And yay!!

The last thing you want to do is send any in for grading. Nothing worse than seeing somebody spend $12+ per coin to grade 3c to $2 coins so you can sell them for 99c to $3 a coin. Fist, take your time and learn what you have. Spend a good year or more at it learning before spending your disability check for nothing in return.
Check the 1909 VDB for a doubled die on the obverse. There are lesser ones on the reverse.

I'm going to post pics of each coin in a separate post. The 1909 VDB will be going up first very soon!
