I mostly use BOA and have 2 branches I predominately use to get boxes on walk in. I happened to be in an affluent area today with 5 or so branches in short distance, so I decided to make quick round- pretty much a waste of time for quick scores- halves or dollar coins, but I have a couple of boxes and loose rolls to go through. I'm pretty sure I walked into someone half dump when the teller told me perfect timing he had as many as I could ever want and he was about to send them out for pick up. I took 10 rolls and he said they were all wrapped the same. After a quick edge search, nothing decent in condition or silver so I moved on without going back for all of them.

First thing I noticed. In more upscale area the banks have "gate keepers" with iPads that you have to speak with before you can pass to the teller.

My main question for the unprepared.. Is there any amount of daily teller transactions that will lock up your account or trigger fraud? Even banks that I had cash to get coins with wanted me to slide my bank card. I have another appointment this afternoon in a bank heavy location and was thinking of taking another shot- figure I'll at least have a bunch of boxes to keep me busy for a while.

Forgot to mention- I overheard a bunch of tellers talking about how they don't think there will be tellers in banks within 5 years.

As a former teller I believe it was if $3000 or more was moved in a day something was triggered.

Tellers probably file millions of SAR (Suspicious Activity Reports) every day.
It's my money, if I want to withdraw $5k, I will, and have done many times. Probably have reports filed against me. The big flag is when you want to withdraw $10k or more of your own money.

CLS12, always buy all the halves. I've never turned down any amount, be it $30, or $3k in halves. Many times I'm sure 90% or more are dumps, but I've scored dozens of solid silver rolls over the years, using the buy them all method.

fistfulladirt is right. I use to not want to get self rolled coins until I took 5 $10 rolls of halves that were self rolled. 97 out of 100 were silver. I was beside myself. I was a split second away from saying "naaa".

It depends what account you use. The BOA savings account I use to get coin rolls only lets me withdraw money 3 times per month. If I withdraw money more than 3 times a month then my account gets charged.

I agree with never walking away from halves, but the teller was pretty sinister ... He made a comment about maybe you'll get lucky and find 1 coin with a devilish laugh, almost like he knew what they were. The 10 rolls I searched in parking lot were really banged up as well and unimpressive.

I was more concerned with # of teller transactions per day alert or raising red flags vs dollar amount. Most of time I get a box no one asks to scan card, but it seemed like every bank was today
