So recently came into a very good deal for proof/unc sets and was wondering if a BU set of P/D State Quarters is worth trying to sell? On ebay the 100 BU coins seem to barely go for $40 and that is with the $20 Dansco album with it. I was thinking of releasing these unc sets into the wild but does it seem worthwhile to save the State Quarters?

Before you spend them put the word out that you are looking to pass them on for a small amount over face or even face as long as they go to a good home.

That is true. I am saving the unc cents and halves for my mom and her couple of albums. Who knows I may want to keep them for myself. ;) I have the Dansco for the silver proof date set but maybe I need another one

I think they are worth saving.

If these are mint set coins, I would 2x2 the entire set and put them away.

It is CERTAINLY worth keeping if these are mint set coins as AES pointed out. I would Dansco them myself.

Yeah I cut them all out of the mint sets tonight. There are certainly some beauties in there... I guess my question would be it would seem worth it to hold them even if I already have a set of BU (albeit toned) State Quarters? For instance, @AES, why would you put them away?

You have one set, no reason not to have two sets. Just as GR58! Regardless, you should hold them, perhaps gift them to a child someday and let them build the album.

I'd set aside all the matte coins and Gems.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Yeah I guess at the very least hand them off to some family. My mom showed some interest so we will see. I love GR58's pics don't get me wrong... I just don't think my budget would allow me to keep that many coins! And yeah on ebay it seems like sets are sold for maybe $5 over the face and album cost so I don't think it would be worth... Yet anyways. Maybe someday. Thanks all!

Well, you did get a good deal on those sets, so taking a small loss and paying it forward would not be a bad thing.

I have an aunt that gave me a giant bucket of State Quarters to sort out into 2 sets for my nephews. They are all pretty nice unc coins with 12 states having full rolls from the bank p & d back when you could actually find that kind of stuff. Point bring if you're willing to put together 2 nice sets in flips or something, I wojld buy them. I dont have the time to sort through what I have but I can convert it into money :). Pm me if you're interested and sorry for the thread hijack
