I have a quick question. I wanted to buy a few of the 2015 Panda's but because of the missing silver purity inscription on the coin I was thinking would it be smart to buy the 2015 Panda that is graded and certified by PCGS or NGC?

Also when they grade and certify it am I correct to assume that they have tested it for the Silver purity of .999 in the coin?

Sorry for the Noob questions but I am unfamiliar with certified / graded coins. All my coins I buy are usually raw coins.

Thank you all

NGC or PCGS ...... it doesn't matter, value is the same. IF you insist on buying modern bullion graded, buy MS70. Buying anything less is basically an overpriced raw coin. Buying these as an "investment" is a long shot at best.

I collect Pandas, both raw, in an album, and a graded set. When people tell me how collectible these (2015) are going to be, because of the lack of weight and purity, I tell them "yes, only you and me and 8 million other people will have one"
Just for comparison
2014 Libertad........429,000
2014 Britannia.......100,000
2014 Kookaburra......500,000

Of course, I still have my 2015 PCGS MS70 Panda, my raw Panda for my Dansco and an additional 2014,2015 and (2016) for my before, during and after "transition" to metric set.

Ok thanks Denco but does the ngc or pcgs certification mean they are certifying the 2015 Pandas are indeed .999% silver pure?

While they don't do a metallergic test, most of the certified coins that you buy from major dealers are certified in bulk right out of the government packaging. . So if NGC or PCGS grade it, you can more sure than if you bought it raw. The Chinese gov't certifies that they are 1oz of .999 silver, for what that is worth, like the U.S. gov't certifies ASEs
