Martin Van Buren (1837- 1841) Release Date 11/13/08

Interesting Martin Van Buren facts:

1) Martin Van Buren was the eighth president and the first to be born in the newly independent nation. The previous Presidents were born before the US declared it's independence in 1776. Van Buren was born in 1782.

2) As the descendant of Dutch immigrants, he was also the first president whose ethnic background wasn't mostly from the British Isles.

3) He considered himself a follower of Thomas Jefferson and was one of the founders of the Democratic Party.

4) We have Van Buren to thank for the expression "OK." He was from Kinderhook, New York, which was sometimes referred to as "Old Kinderhook." "O.K. Clubs" were created to support Van Buren's political campaigns and the expression "OK" came to mean "all right."

Having said that, after looking at the photos you posted for all of the new dollars, I think the second picture you posted in all of these threads is the one they did use for the coins. I don't think they look too bad compared to the pictures you provided. Especially if you consider the material and space they are working with.....

Of course, I'm not a huge fan of the design concept in general, but to each his own I guess.
