Somebody at work was looking for answer from me on this and I could not give them one-any ideas what this is? I first thought collar clash but it's on both sides-goes about 3/4 way around on both sides-it doesn't effect the devices/letters so had to be on the die but I don't think die deteriation either? Thanks

I do now think it's a form of die deteriation,I can see ridge lines leading to the rim-you guys remember what it was like first starting out you see every little defect and think it's an error-the kid at work is coming at me now with new stuff everyday and I'm just trying to get him the best answers I can lol-I've taught him about most major errors but he hasn't found one yet so I know what I'm in for,I helped create this monster and I'm gonna have to send him to you guys you will do a much better job as a group-good luck with this one lol

It's a form of Die Deterioration. It's due to wear on the dies caused by upset of the rims on the planchets. Zinc is a much tougher material to strike than copper. They even have to strike it differently than copper to achieve a full strike.
