The Apostolic Tribunal of the Roman Rota is the highest ecclesiastical court of the Holy See. The judges of the Rota are titled "auditors." My Italian isn't the best, but it appears that in 1652 Girolamo Priuli (latinized: Hieronymus Prioli) was appointed auditor when his fellow Venetian Pietro Vito Ottoboni (future Pope Alexander VIII) left the Rota to become a cardinal.
