It happens during the striking of the coin itself and gives the coins devices a shelf/step look, reducing the normal dimensions of the devise and creating the illusion of doubling. This adds no value to the coin. Your pic of the motto isn't clear enough to help us determine what you are seeing there. Report this Post to the Staff

If this were hub doubling the other devices on ONE would also be affected the same. Note the image of ONE CENT? Not just one die device affected during the hubbing process.
