I am curious of others' opinions as to the value of this 2000 cent; an apparent broadstrike. Thank you.

It appears to have been cleaned and has some scratches at around 8:30. I'd say $20 in today's market. This is a wild guess.

Thank you. When you say "in today's market", do you mean to imply a "buyers market" where its value could increase with a shift in the market, or a "sellers market" where the amount this might fetch today could take a tumble if the market reversed?

Check ebay sold values. 2000 is a common date.

Common date relative to broadstrikes, still an awesome coin!

I take to confirm it is genuine so congrats on a nice coin regardless of the scratches.

Yes it is real. Damage to coin may have happened during the strike or after. But it is a legit error. Nice centered broad struck.

I like this coin for the "text-book" illustrations it gives of a broadstrike in general. For example: a closer look shows ripples of the metal's flow as it exceeds its prescribed boundary for having been struck outside of its collar. Also, the striations around the coin are undisturbed at the "8:30 scratch", which seems to indicate it as mint damage occurring during the strike. While it is clear that the coin is clean, I do not acquiesce that it has necessarily been cleaned. Its patine is very consistent with other lightly circulated coins of its era that I have seen.
