I bought these uncleaned coins a few weeks ago and I am finally seeing some signs of life, but not enough to really identify what they are. I tried to get as much details in the photos as I could. If anyone can give me some clues to get me started, that would be great.

Once they have had a bath and a brush you should be able to identify most of these. Looks like a Diocletian top right.

After a few weeks of soaking in distilled water or olive oil and a brushing looks like most of these would be identifiable. Check out the sticky section here on Books, downloads and website there is a lot of information that will here you ID your coins. If you still need help post only one or two coins at a time, it's a lot easier for us to see and ID the coin.

Yeah, they've been soaking and brushed for weeks. I guess they need more cleaning.

Well, I had 27 coins. I had 6-7 in 4 containers of distilled water for 3 weeks. I changed it and brushed them with a cut toothbrush. Now these are the best looking like they might be something. The others are soaking in olive oil for the next while because they are so bad and crusty.

I thought I might get a clue what I had to make it a little funner while waiting. But thats okay.

The bottom center looks like Constantius II, and looks like you could probably id the mint. The mark is just out of the picture. The bottom right might be Valens or Valentinian dragging captive.

And the middle left might be Constantius II with the VOT XX... in wreath on the reverse.

Middle might be Philip I with military standards on reverse.

Top Left looks like Constantine I or II with two soldiers standing around a standard on reverse.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Captain. Yeah, that is really helpful. I'll at least learn something while I'm researching, so it's a win either way.

the bottom middle coin looks very promising. surfaces look to be pretty good, well centered and stuck. the brown stuff should come off, you may want to try using a toothpick or something on that.
