1876 One Cent Coin Variation? - Coin Community Forum

I have this 1876 One Cent coin but the obverse is not like any other I've been able to find on the web. Please take a look at the images and let me know if anyone can provide any information about it? Thanks! KurtS Pillar of the Community United States 5318 Posts	Posted 12/28/2007 9:51 pm It's too bad the coin is rather battered, but that might also give some clue to its origin. I don't see this in my book of possible patterns, and my guess is the obverse surface pattern has been tooled post-mint. One way to know for sure is to put it under a scope and look for evidence of the prior design and lettering. Just a guess--have fun researching! Report this Post to the Staff
