Hi,

I'm looking to buy a fair amount of early date, raw wheats in XF or better. I had some ebay gift cards to spend. Ordinarily I've ONLY bothered with certified, higher end coins on ebay.

Buying raw coins on ebay is a new experience that I'm not comfortable with.

If any of you have been happy with a seller who regularly auctions wheats, please let me know.

Also, please let me know if you have any advice on buying raw ebay coins. Thanks!

Sean,
I've had good luck with whips-coin-company, rgment1, and 24prov1s. Purchased most of my wheaties from rgment1 and did receive some semi-rare dates in rolls but could tell that some were cherry picked. Most 55P's had been cleaned around the date.

Read prospective sellers feedback and watch for outrageous shipping fees. I usually stay away from sellers who say they bought a large lot at an estate sale and are trying to pay for college, or they don't collect coins, or they no nothing about what they have.

For higher grades I have been buying from Vic Brenner. His prices are a little high but he does have some beautiful early wheats. Check the Lincoln lovers thread in the photographing forum, on the last page I put up some pics of some of my recent purchases from him.

Sean,

I learned an trick on buying raw coins on ebay. I look for bulk lots or old sets in those blue folders. Its cheaper sometimes to buy from non dealers on ebay. I do it all time.

My last purchase on ebay was like 20 bucks for intire lot. In lot I got an 1910s, 1911d, 1912d aslong with lots 1909 thru 1940 pennys in flips. Some of coins did grade out good in lot. The intire lot was worth more than 20 bucks totol. My 10s is worth about 10 to 30 bucks if bought it from dealer. Same on 11d, or 12d cents. Good lot few of grade coins .

In summer I needed an 1914d cent. I bought an intire set for 365 that went to 1995 . It complete minus the 1909s and 1909s Svd coins and some proofs. Reason why I bought was Dealer wanted 200 to 400 for an 1914d cent , 99 bucks for 1931s, 10s thru 1915s cents they wanted 99 to 150 for them. 35 dollars for 24d , 10 bucks for 22d cent.

Those sellers of those lots were hobbie guys who lost the desire or ran out money to finish there sets. They just listed them on ebay no reserve and sold them. They all lost money on them big time if they bought the stuff from dealers.

ebay is full of those incomplete sets or lots at any given time. I used look all the time for them. I just read over them and see something good I buy it.

THAT is a steal, even if they were in really low grade. Thanks guys. ebay looks pretty slim right now, probably due to the holidays.

I sent you a PM, I have rolls (300+) of most dates 1909-58 with some semi keys, I can take some pics of the dates you are looking for and if you like them I can put them up with a buy it now so you can use the certs. I have been looking to "thin the herd" and what better was than to help out a fellow CCF memeber! Same goes for anybody else who might be looking, most are vg-xf.

chrsb,

I'd love to look at them. But the problem is I'm trying to spend $375 worth of Christmas gift cards for Ebay/Paypal. So the only way I can redeem them is through ebay... unless you can also do so through PayPal only. I'm not sure if you can.

Anything you have that I need, that is XF or better and has decent eye appeal I'd love to take off your hands.

Do you take PayPal?
