crashtackle New Member South Africa 6 Posts	Posted 06/12/2015 10:32 am I am not a collector, but when I see a box of coins going cheap I can't resist! In the lot I came across these two which seem to be pretty old to me, but it may well be that they are poorly cared for... I tried to scan them as best as I could.... Any ideas? The one on the right is definitely roman. Possibly Julian II, but would need the obverse to confirm. Could also be a Valentinian II. I believe both issued AE's with the reverse legend: VOT/X/MVLT/XX. And here is a Valentinian II: Btw, looks like your coin may have a mint mark of "SMN" - which is Nicomedia (Izmit, Turkey)...if it is "SMK" it would be Cyzicus (Kapu Dagh, Turkey)... Is it worth me trying tho clean the one on the left to see if I can get any more detail out of it? If so what is the best method? Also are these worth anything in this condition?
