Yup to my eye it's a double clip. Weakness of the rim leading into both clips. WE also looks like it may have taken a hit. The Blakesley effect is what you are seeing at Liberty. Cool coin !

Thanks for the pics. Your title has me confused, isn't a clipped planchet really an incomplete planchet? The area by WE looks PMD to me. The area at 3k looks like an incomplete planchet. Let's wait for coop. John1

Ya john, I was unsure if clip and incomplete planchet were different or interchangeable terms. How does a double clip happen if this is one?

clipped A term for an irregularly cut planchet. A clip can be straight or curved, depending upon where it was cut from the strip of metal. Got this from the glossary. John1

... thanks john or should I say "glossias" lol (child spanglish) I need to look up this Blakesley effect. I've heard it used before here in conjunction with clips but nobody has explained it in a thread.

CCF glossary; Blakesley effect The weakness opposite the clip on a clipped planchet error coin. This occurs during the upsetting process, because of the clip there is a lack in pressure to upset the rim directly opposite the clip. John1

I agree definitely clipped planchet with the blakesly effect congrats on that one by WE I dont see tapering but I do see weakness and there's no raised metal but hard to tell could be PMD at the same time but I think I may see the blakesly effect also with this one? Hopefully an expert will confirm...

Thanks for the confirm coop, hope your feelin ok. You all know I'm a morgan and classics guy mostly so please elaborate. How great of a find is this being an old LWC double clip? Are doubles common-ish or rare-ish? And in terms of value, what, $25 +/-
