Starting next month, my bank won't be accepting loose change anymore, think they are getting rid of the coin counting machine. I will have to re-roll all the coin I don't want. Is there a specific way to roll the coins in the rolls that the coins originally come from? Do the ends need to be rolled or can I just bend them?
Thanks for the input.

If it's in that white paper with red writing you will need a special tool to crimp the ends. I just buy flat coin wrappers on ebay, box of 1000. John1

I suggest finding a TD Bank...free coin counting machine and then you wont have to pick up supplies to wrap the searched coins.

You can get free coin wrappers from your bank--just ask. You can fold the ends--no need to crimp or roll them, even with the same rolls the coins came in. If the rolls with coins are rolled at the ends, you can unroll one end to get the coins out. Sometimes it is easier to just use new wrappers than to try to unroll the rolled up ends. None of the banks near me seem to have a coin counting machine. They all tell me to go to a CoinStar machine. If you use a CoinStar coin counting machine, you can just dump in loose coins. CoinStar charges about 10% if you get a cash voucher to turn in for cash, but they charge nothing if you get a gift card/receipt. I get Amazon gift cards and register them with my Amazon account, because I often order stuff from Amazon. That adds to my available balance at Amazon that I use when ordering from Amazon. You can find a CoinStar locations and more info from the CoinStar website.

I use CoinStar, I only lose a couple of bucks each time I cash in $25 worth of cents. Plus, I usually can take spare change from around the house to make up for the deficit.

Open a roll, take out the cents you want, replace the cents you want, re roll, return to bank.

I get coin wrappers from my bank and then deposit the coins into my account. I'm not a high volume guy and I don't mind wrapping coins as it gives me a second chance to look at them for errors I may have missed. It's a tad tedious, but I'm retired so I have time.

Chase is doing the same here July 1.
Chase states that they will give you wrappers to use. I woudl recommend using bank supplied wrappers instead of rerolling in the Loomis or S & S wraps they came in. I rerolled $500 in halves in Loomis rolls and used them to pay my Home Depot bill. A month later I got the same rerolled coins back WIOTH MY NAME AND ADDRESS on them that Home Depot wrote when I used them as payment. Whomever their armored car service was took them to the central vault and reboxed them without even counting them. If you use the original wraps you will get your same coins back 1:1 and someone else may get your personal information depending on how the bank treats your deposit.

Jack I have noticed that if you change in or pay in your area you have a good chance of getting the same back. I have marked rolls just to see and have gotten them back in a sealed box because I reuse the same wrappers. I also used to get about 1 sometimes 2 silver quarter a box but I no longer get any in the last 8 boxes so I'm switching areas to change what I get . I also notice that if I switch from one BOA in my area to another that I get papery wrappers with one and plastic with the other so I'm guessing they use a different service for some reason? They are in the same county only about 4 miles apart? ? I don't get it

Wow Jack - that's amazing! I figure that all coin was returned, remixed, rerolled.
As noted above, some banks will give you handfuls of wrappers. But seldom enough to do an entire box. They usually give out a few to customers who ask as most only have a few dollars worth to roll and cash-in. I buy mine like John; it's only a few dollars to get a thousand wrappers and for me, the cost of the hobby. I also use wrappers that are different than what the banks here hand out so it's easy to identify my returns (I pick up and return to the same bank). This is important for those occasions where they have CWRs they set aside in case I'm interested in them. If I spot mine, I pass.
Normally, dump elsewhere and not where you pick-up. However, if you don't turn a lot of coin, then the bank might be able to give out your returns before you pick up your next box. It's only happened once where the pick up for me was my prior returns and that was a logistics issue on the banks part and not a big deal. As noted, don't reroll using the original Loomis wrappers; they are too weak and carry potential to bust open and create an undesirable situation for the bank. Remember: they are doing you a service that many banks wont consider doing unless you have a business account.
Maintain accuracy of count; err on the side of 51 cents in a roll. Shortages will put you in bad favor. Keep things neat and orderly; simplify the return. You don't want to be too big a burden. Good luck on perfecting your return process!

In most cases, coin goes back to courier and total is determined by weight, not count. There is a certain percent allowed, plus or minus, given to the bag weight.
