I was searching some rolls and when I slid this one under the glass, it was reverse up....I saw the Wide AM and thought, this looks pretty good for a Wide AM....was thinking like middle 1980's(I like to try and guess the mint date by looking at the reverse)...but when I turned to the obverse and saw 1959...nice!.

Here is my question...I would grade this in the MS-63/64 range but if you notice on the reverse, there is a die chip or clash, something on one of the columns. How does this affect the grading scale?

Assuming it's a die chip, which is what it looks like, it should have no bearing on the grade. The coin came from the Mint that way, and strictly speaking the coin's grade should be directly related to how much has changed since the moment it was struck. Of course, in the upper MS grades strike quality has a bearing, but more because of weakness/strongness than any mint die anomaly.

I would say MS-63, I am picky about facial hits and that one on Lincoln's jaw is pretty big. It is a very nice coin with what looks like a pretty strong strike (nice steps and I can see some fluting on the columns ). IMO there are too many small nicks for a 64 grade.
