I was recently given some coins by my great aunt. I've been going through them recently, and found a bag of 1943 pennies. They are very shiny and clean for the most part. Have these been cleaned? Or have they just been taken care of? If not cleaned, what would you grade them?

Most of them are in this condition, some slightly better, some slightly worse. Thanks in advance.

Any ideas? There are probably 20 in the bag I have, which definitely makes me think they have been re-plated.

Also, sorry to bother but I am still wondering how to tell if a coin is re-plated.
Thank you

I like to think I can identify the difference between steel deterioration and plate deterioration. To me, judging by the deterioration marks on the surface, it looks like plate deterioration; however, I also find it hard to imagine going to the expense to have so many cents re-plated and then simply throwing them in a bag.

All my re-plates are in 2x2's.

Yeah, I can see my aunt saving a bunch of them from 1943, but not necessarily getting them re-plated.

Any more input is appreciated.

Thanks

One way to tell if your cents have been replated is to look at the rim. The metal used for the steelies was plated before the blanks were punched out so the edge of the actual coin is unplated steel.
