What is the ugliest coin in your possession? I'm not referencing defects like dings, or dark toning or the like. I'm speaking to a coin that maybe looked good when you sent off for it, but when you got it in your hand you perhaps thought to yourself, "Oh my gosh, what were they thinking?"
For my part it is the 2013 reverse proof Buffalo coin. I think the regular proof looks a lot better (though I don't own one), and the regular old nickel even more so.
By the way, just to nip it in the bud, "No, I'm not looking for anyone to relieve me of this monstrosity."

I buy all my coins in person, so I don't really have this problem, but I'd have to say this one is pretty ugly. PVC spots on the reverse, Liberty's and the eagle's eyes look really weird, and of course that huge gouge in the obverse.   |

That is pretty ugly. The coin itself isn't bad, just the design.

Great thread! Boy, the SBA and '95 Olymipcs submissions are just perfect. I would toss the Ike dollar in there as well. Somehow, these coins end up having the opposite effect from what the mint intended. |
