What happened to the coins and notes that were used when Saddam ruled the country? Aren't those valid now? Does anyone collect them?

yeah, they aren't valid anymore. plenty of people collect them, and there are millions of notes available. they're pretty good as conversation/historical pieces, but they won't go very far as valuable rarities.

...this note might be an exception:

as far as I know, people buy them and collect them because the new government cant decide wether to cancel them or not, they still have a very low value, I mean really low, but people who buy them take it as a risky investment in the hope that one day they will be withdrawn by the governemt or exchanged and maybe get a higher values, still you have to check as this is what I heard from a friend. not sure

I personally got a complete set out of the possible conversation/historical interest value, and they were not that dear to get a complete set, and the only non - Australian notes I own.
Rest in Peace
