I recently posted about a misattributed Lucius Verus denarius I picked up on ebay.

https://goccf.com/t/232406

I received the coin today, but think it might be a fouree. If it is, it's a good one, but there appears to be a brown spot behind the eye and another behind the ear.

I don't want to mess with it in case I return it, but am looking for opinions. Thanks.

Have a good look inside those edge cracks, with a 20x loupe.

this coin was pretty cheap, i'd absolutely keep it if it is a fouree.

I see what looks like a little bleed through of the inner core in the beard, ear and along the edge. Check the edgeto see if any of the core is visible.

It's very hard to tell by looking at the edges if it's silver or a fouree. In one spot it looks like silver in the edge cracks, but another spot is darker.

I'll try and get a decent photo of one particular spot on the reverse that looks like it might be a layering of silver.

Sorry about the delay in getting more photos. It was a busy weekend.

Here's the reverse shot with what looks like a seam in a layer of silver.

I'm leaning heavily toward it being a fouree, but I'm going to keep it since it's such a nice one.
