Great find, that's a tough one. Looks like those might be later file marks where "We Trust" should be, but then you look at the slick wheat ear in the corresponding area on the reverse, and you immediately think strike-through. What's going on with "E pluribus..." I'm trying to fit into this puzle.

Why fake something like this?

More grease on E PLURIBUS. Or grease was not letting the die go down all the way to fill in the design?

What is the weight on this one. If it is less than a normal cent, it might be a tapered planchet?

Right on 3 grams and rim looks almost perfect width all the way around

EDIT. Didn't see the post before I posted. Is that what your scale usually weighs copper cents as?.11 grams off.

Yeah it bounces on 3.1 and 3 always. It's a cheap on I only get 0.0 no hundredths

One day I will sell a few couple pennies and purchase a real scale but for now I'm sick with my 10 dollar scale from the cigar shop . Right now it's all about the hoard .

I agree. It is probably just a struck through error. At first glance it looked like the obverse and reverse maybe affected on the same spot on the coin. But looking not it is in a slightly different area.
