I found a circ 1958D Quarter at the flea market in a pile of quarters with a bar under the top of the 5. I have seen this on a 1956 quarter and its listed in Numi News Price Market price guide but not a 1958D. Is this rare? Here's a picture of it.

TIA

P.S. Found a BU 1964D Rev C along with the 1958D in the same pile of quarters and bought them both for a little over melt.... Yippeeeee!

Here's a picture of the 1964D Rev C BU quarter. I am sure there are people who want to see it.

The 5 is the result of the die chipping out in that area. No real premium value to an error collector, however there might be someone out there willing to pay a modest premium for such a thing. As for something like this being in a price guide, I would doubt it before seeing it, and even then I would doubt its accountability. Stuff like this is rather common and experienced error collectors see them as common and worthless.

Chuck, This kind of thing used to be listed in books written by Frank Spadone. He would place prices with the descriptions. It is tough to explain to folks that may have one of his books that these things are common and have no premium. Frank was trying to create a market for stuff like this even when 'error' people knew they were common die chips.

I particularly remember 1960 and 1960 D Jeffersons that he used to push and price based on how many die chips there were above the letters and numerals on the obverse.

His book(s) were full of this kind of stuff.
