This coin comes from the same distributors that have been dispersing all sorts of higher quality fakes all over
ebay for the past few years. However, the appearance of these is quite good compared to much of their other fare and thus makes it a dangerously deceiving counterfeit.
As many people would (and have) proclaimed me crazy and wrong in calling this a fake, I have taken up the
TPG's method of matching die markers on two different examples.
Note what looks like dings from normal circulation - these are actually added to the dies by the counterfeiters and struck onto the coin as part of the charade.

There have been other Canadian and Newfie fakes of similar quality, but I have not had a chance to spy multiple examples to do such a comparison on others.
