I have been wanting canadian silver dollar either 1935 or 1936. I have the oppertunity of buying this coin for about $17 American. I know it's cleaned but I can't really afford any nicer right now. Should I pass or maybe offer less money? What would be a fair price?

Could I realistically get a lower condition example for about that price non cleaned?

Oh and the $17 includes $2 shipping. The coin is $15. I also happen to have a $10 gift card so it's like $7 out of pocket. That being said I could use that card on anything so really doesn't matter besides the point that I'm just using the card to spurge of myself. Don't want to put much of my money into it right now.

Hi Bertensgrad, I would pass on this one if I were you, it looks like it was 'heavily' cleaned I'm sure you can get a lot better one for maybe a little more money.

I know everyone is against cleaned coins but what really matters if you like it or not. If everytime you look at it and think "that's a nice coin", then buy it. But since you're having second thoughts about it already by asking here, then maybe you should pass.

As a collector of Silver Dollars, I would pass on it.
Being both worn and cleaned is not a good combination.
There are better deals out there.

What would be the most American you would spend on it? Just junk silver?

You right would that affect the value any? Should I offer him like a small premium over spot like $12 or $13?

Its not much over silver price and if you like it buy it you can always sell it later if you find a better one, until then you can still enjoy it.
