MD. Note how the devices are reduced by the machine damage to the date. Here is a 1957 that shows how it might look in 3D:

Are you saying the doubled portion should be just as tall as the original strike devices?

In a way yes. It shouldn't reduce the table (or top) of the numbers. It should be a completely full and thick strike, with another strike in a new location. You will see two distinct corners for the numbers or letters. Hope this makes a little sense
