Well we are vacationing in New Orleans and stopped in a coin shop here. For a price of $120... How did I do? I could see it was cleaned due to the uneven dark toning but couldn't see hairlines at all so it doesn't seem too harsh... But any comments would be greatly appreciated!

And it would be details because it was cleaned, correct?

Personally I wouldn't have gone that high for a cleaned coin.

I like the looks of it! I like it way better for $100, but $120 is ok. I'd be glad to put it in my 7070! What coins are you missing for your type set?

Yeah I figured based off numismedia an EF coin would be around $140 so for a cleaned one but still looks good I am OK with the price I think. Yes definitely would be better at $100 but nothing screamed it was ludicrously high. Especially wanting one for my 7070. And Matt, I haven't had a chance to upgrade my list but I think it is the same except for two seated dimea and the seated half now

You could have done much, much worse. I also do not think you could have done too much better, not at that price and overall condition. I call it a win and it will look nice in your 7070.

Yeah figured even if he could have gone a few more dollars down, it still wouldn't have been much. Plus I just desperately wanted a new coin for the Dansco! Not a steal by any means at all but not a ripoff. Thanks all! I will continue to learn what to look for and adjust my spending accordingly in the future! Lessons learned. :)

I'm not calling this a tragedy, but real-world sales records indicate that $120 should buy one of these in a righteous XF45 or AU Details slab. The only question to my mind is, "Why do we get all up in arms when the best-possible near-ripoff price is not paid?" Might not be a bad idea to keep the PCGS Auction Records site bookmarked on the smartphone.

Thanks SD that seems to be a great tool. You are right even a non-cleaned half at that grade $120 would be in the middle of prices. I will definitely make sure to not let my impulses drive the purchases and utilize the realized prices tool. Just wish I could find them at those prices they always seem to be overpriced when I look. Lesson learned I just need to be patient.

Well, as "mistakes" go this was a cheap lesson. I still think it will look good in your 7070. Show us a photo next to her friends. Context is important.

Just for the record, I don't think a technical AU50 is out of the question for this coin.
