Hey everyone, I work for the municipal government of Hartland, NB and I was asked to organize a coin show for the official New Brunswick day celebration in our town this year.
I was wondering who all here would be either a) be interested in going b) setting up a table or c) selling me some NB exo/numi or philantic stuff on the cheap?
I was told we could get what ever we want so I was wondering if we should do outdoors, outdoors under canapes or in a building (most likely the local library).
I will be asking all this with the President of the Florencville Collector Club and hopefully getting our name out.
I met tFred at a show in Woodstock once so I hope to hear from him on here.
Now as for my table here is what I was thinking.....
I have a Terry Fox Loon dollar graded my ICCS and signed by the designer. I want to get a picture of Terry Fox running across the Hartland covered bridge (longest in the world) and put out a little write up about how he was the first Canadian born person on our coins. Also I have a signed addition of "Coins of New Brunswick". I want to put that out and tell people they can check it out in the local library (they have a copy on hand).
Since this is New Brunswick and the show will be in NB's smallest town what I was thinking was bring out the costume jewelry, real jewelry and municipal trade tokens form Saint John, Fredericton, Woodstock etc. with Pre-confederate tokens and coins.
I don't expect a lot of coin collectors to come, just looky loos and what have you. I want to market my coins as souvenirs and I have to keep them cheap because no one would spend more then $40 on a coin. My question is what would be an ethical mark up? I don't want to take advantage of anyone but with a small town with no coin stores or a numismatic following would buying up old NB coins/tokens for about $10 a piece and selling them at $15-$20 be awful of me?
Anyways please comment here if you are a New Brunswicker or if you have any input? Thank you in advance.

I think you have a great idea here... have you considered contacting the "Bell" family in Moncton to see if there's anything they would like to contribute?

Sounds like a nice venture. Perhaps buying (or donations) some 1867-1992 New Brunswick quarters with the covered bridge on the reverse, would be a nice souvenir in a 2x2, for the locals or travellers visiting NB.Maybe charge $2.00 per coin. Just a thought, and good luck with your project.

I have not considered it because I never thought of it! I will give a shout out to Jeff tonight. It was a shame I could not find away down to Fredericton when you where visiting AgCoinAu. Between you helping timnic44 as he trys to get his first gold coin and your work with underprivileged children you have a 50% off coupon at any show you may find me at.
Nickeldeon, I was thinking about that. The only problem is I am not sure if the locals will appreciate an MS coin when you can still find them in your change. Plus I would have to buy a roll and I am dirt poor, I might have $100 to buy specialty stuff for the show and I think I could move pre-confederate before modern.

We are talking about the 1992 provincial quarters that came out for the 125th Canadian anniversary. I had to take a course in Atlantic Canadian vernacular architecture back when I was studying folklore and it was basically a semister of looking at covered bridges and lighthouses.

Ok, replied to Check and metal, just need to write back to gold silver.
Gerald (one of Florencville's Presidents is unavailable) and Paul is on the fence (the other President)
I want to be outside under a canape to attract attention. I have sent off an email to Canadian Coin News to get listed and 50 complimentary issues.
Now to contact COINQUEST, Olmstead Currency, and Bell Auctions/Coin Cabinet.

The guy I gave you the email for would have good dealer contacts ... you may want to see if he'd forward the show info to his list.

It is chequer, I guess we are under "market". I was the only one available from the coin club to do it so I will have a table and a guy who builds military models will be sharing a second table at on end of the market. The way the town promotes itself is awful, I was using Facebook to get the messege out.
Lots of other guys selling too so a nice hodgepodge of stuff. I actually have to call the woman tonight and tell her to set up our tables. Most guys I called about working the show said "Let me think about it" then waited until Friday to tell me they couldn't do it/
Post Script: Thanks for the shout out on Facebook!

Fine and costume jewelry, silver dollars/half dollars, Nintendo memorabilia, comic books, stamps, municipal trade tokens, silver bullion, trading cards, militaria.
I was supposed to have a bunch of Roman 3 millimeter copper coins but the package never arrived in time.
Up until 2 days ago I had a red beard down to my colr bone but I recently shaved it all off. I think I will be the only coin guy there so drop by if you make it.
Sorry I will be the only strictly coin guy but everyone in the collector club seemed to be on vacation.
