I restored the nickel/date with a 2 week vinegar soak, and listed it on ebay yesterday. Today, I wanted to get a better pic of the date, and now it looks like it might be a RPD to the north.....two lower loops on the 8s? I know I'm asking a lot with the poor photo. Thoughts, comments? Thanks, Ed

Is-This-1868-Shield-Nickel-A-RPD?

It sure does look like a RPD to me at least from this photo's perspective.

It could have a very remote chance of being a double die variety but I'll leave that call to the experts.

I looked at it again straight on with a more powerful loop and bright light, it doesn't look like a RPD, but on this photo with the angle and light, it does. Funny the tricks stuff can play with the eyes.
