Recently offered to me in a trade at a pretty high value. Just wondering, what is the fair marker value for a coin like this? And, considering I know nothing about it, I appreciate some information on Grade, history, and year issued.

Looks like KM #662.

Napoleon I 5 Franc

Minted 1804 and 1805. I believe the M on the reverse is the mint mark, which would give it a mintage of 1,547,000; the second highest for that year.

Look for edge lettering.

Buried in the cgb.fr site is a link to the French price guide "Le e-franc". Here's the page with this coin:

http://www.lefranc.net/monnaie,5-fr...ire,303.html

13M (Toulouse) is not an uncommon date, but it's not worn much. I'll call this TTB45 (XF45), which has a retail value of 180 euros. This pricing is typically on the high side compared to ebay or coin shows.

This is an 1805 coin, the first year of Napoelon's empire. It is still dated using the revolutionary calendar, which would be dropped in following years.
