Hello all,

As the title states, I have never once sent a coin out for grading but this one seems to be a good candidate. First off, sorry for the bad photos, they are not mine. I ordered the coin just about a half an hour ago and once it is in hand, I will post better photos.

Should-I-Send-This-Out-To-Be-TPG'd?-Would-Be-My-First-Time..

Should-I-Send-This-Out-To-Be-TPG'd?-Would-Be-My-First-Time..

My questions and concerns are the following:

1. Simply, would it be worth the time/money to send out? I spent a whopping $60 on the coin itself.

2. I've checked price guides and am hoping for MS-65FB, think it'll make it?

3. What are the prices for each grading service?

4. I plan on selling it if it does reach 65, so is there any one TPG service that is the most marketable?

5. Do all of the TPGs require a membership for submissions?

6. Finally, was the coin worth the $60 in the first place?

As you can tell, I have very little knowledge on submitting coins for grading because I have never once done it. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I understand if hypothesis' are unattainable for this coin right now due to the bad pictures I have of it.

Thanks!

First off did you buy from a dealer or a blind little old lady? Because the clue phone is ringing...

$60 is full retail for an MS62... retail for an MS65 would be 250-275 and MS65FB more. If there was any chance it would come back as a $400 coin (and s/he paid only enough to let it go for 60) the dealer would have spent the $25 or so and sent it off themselves.

Now if you bought from a private party, I would VERY carefully and VERY honestly grade it myself (PCGS online photograde and the ANA book). If you are better than 95% sure it will come back at least MS64, then it's 'worth' it in the sense thst $60 + $30 in fees is about what you can buy it for....

The pictures are no help. You need to post better ones if you want educated opinions.

Alright, like I said, I will post better shots once the coin is in hand.

ANACS has a special now for 2 coins graded free. All you pay is shipping both ways.

Check that: Must be postmarked by 7/4, and you don't have it in hand yet.

What edwether? Do I have to be a member to get that? Oh my gosh. I need to look into that.

Anyway, I'd wait until I get it in hand to think about sending it off. I'd use NGC, but ANACS is good too.

It's an "Insider Special." All that means is that you have to register with them for free, and your then an "insider." This current deal is good til Friday, but they run them several times per year.

ANA members can submit coins for grading to NGC without having to buy a subscription/membership. Below the three steps there is an ANA submission account link. http://www.ngccoin.com/submit-coins...-submit.aspx
