Mariano Melgarejo was, even by the lowest standards, one of the nastiest pieces of work to ever seize a dictatorship. In 1865 he issued a copper proclamation piece using the dies of his half melgarejo silver coin. These are listed as KM# 145 Pn 7.
In this first picture the coin on the right is copper.
In the second pic, it's on the left. And the other is obviously some kind of white metal. So I'm wondering, could this have been silvered as a circulating counterfeit?
