But then again I tend to inspect every single coin I get as change (or buy) very carefully :) As far as the G is concerned, from this picture, it also seems to me as post mint damage ... But what is there between second 0 and 8 in the date? Extra metal? Like this perhaps? Report this Post to the Staff

Pertinax Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 2133 Posts	Posted 07/02/2015 04:01 am No, there's no extra metal between the 0 and 8 of the date - possibly dust on the scan screen - it's not there now. I think it's extra metal on the mintmark because it's raised and I can't see any cuts or dents damage. I don't think the date is doubled, just the scan makes it look like that. The end pillars of the gate seem to be joined to the circle - is that the normal design ? Report this Post to the Staff
Dagaz Valued Member Slovenia 459 Posts	Posted 07/02/2015 04:09 am Yeah, scanning can distort some effects. Could you make a close-up photo perhaps of the mintmark? Maybe then we could tell better. The same goes for pillars. Can't decide either is damaged (the right on even more so) or an error (die chip?). Report this Post to the Staff
