First error in the euro coinage that I've spotted.

I thought it was 2008G but now it seems to be partially filled.

Personally I think it got hit by something, PMD.

But if I'm not completely out of my mind I think I see doubling on the date.

In my experience quite some Euro coins come with similar small extra-metal or filled letters, numbers. But then again I tend to inspect every single coin I get as change (or buy) very carefully :)
As far as the G is concerned, from this picture, it also seems to me as post mint damage ... But what is there between second 0 and 8 in the date? Extra metal? Like this perhaps?

No, there's no extra metal between the 0 and 8 of the date - possibly dust on the scan screen - it's not there now.

I think it's extra metal on the mintmark because it's raised and I can't see any cuts or dents damage.

I don't think the date is doubled, just the scan makes it look like that.

The end pillars of the gate seem to be joined to the circle - is that the normal design ?

Yeah, scanning can distort some effects. Could you make a close-up photo perhaps of the mintmark? Maybe then we could tell better.
The same goes for pillars. Can't decide either is damaged (the right on even more so) or an error (die chip?).
