Apparently they ended this service in other areas already but in Illinois they are just now getting rid of coin machines.

They are a bank. Banks are business, not a public service organizations. They look at the bottom line and counting machines were hurting it. Not saying we have to like it. As customers in a free market we are free to use other banks. Personally, I prefer my credit union.

Decent coin counters are very expensive to maintain. Both my CU's refuse to install them for that reason. That means that their workload is increased when members like myself bring in thousands of dollars in coin per year, and it has to be manually handled.

Just got back from cashing my last boxes of coins in chase. Now I will start bothering them and asking for empty rolls, they won't get rid of me that easily

of all the major banks, chase has to be my least favorite. I closed my account there years ago, I bet they miss my average daily balance of $23.00 :)

I mean really. Banks do many things, but certainly they are in the fundamental business of exchanging, redeeming, depositing and paying out the lawful money of this country. Counting machines too expensive to maintain? The poor dears. I'm through with Chase too.

There's no coin counters in NE ohio, yet alone ohio in general. You guys are all lucky fools, now you get to experience what I've had to deal with for over a decade.

If there were free coin counters out here, I'd do 10 boxes of cents, nickels, dimes quarters and halves a day.

No joke.

I think PNC had done the same thing - I don't know of any in my area that still have a coin counter.
