I agree that this is likely a token, but I cannot figure out what the script is. It does not look like Arabic or Hindi to my untrained eye, but I cannot come up with anything it does look like.

It is indeed an Indian "temple token". The script isn't Arabic, because these deities are Hindu and you won't find Arabic on a Hindu item.

If it is actually a script and not just meaningless doodles intended to only vaguely resemble writing, then I'd guess it was some sort of South Indian script, related to modern Tamil; something like this.

That is most certainly a Indian (or atleast Hindu) religious token. On the obverse you find Ram and Sita seated. On the reverse is Hanuman (hindu god) who found for Ram against the demon Ravana. The scrupt is neither Hindu nor Arabic, it's likely urdu (albeit with less stylization than is normally used), but I don't read Urdu (or Hindi/arabic for that matter) so I can't confirm this. Ram was ffom the city of Ahohdya in Uttar Pradesh, where the main languages are Hindi and Urdu so I suspect that the script is urdu.

I have no extenuating knowledge of religious tokens so I can't help you ID this specific one (and there tens of thousands of these made every year with different designs so there really is no reference thats ID's them anyway).

Thank you for all the information guys. I had a Hindu guy try to read it once and I think I remember that he said it was in Urdu and that he couldn't read it.

It is definitely a ramatanka a/k/a "temple token" with Hindu religious iconography, however, the language is definitely not Urdu which is written in Perso-Arabic script. Unfortunately I cannot identify the language off-hand. I will look and see if this type is cataloged in Mitchiner's work.

It probably isn't a language, just decoration.
