I recently bought a fake Bank of England dollar from a local dealer. The dealer was selling it as a contemporary counterfeit, and for me it does indeed hold all the hallmarks of such. It appears to be plated in genuine silver, which would have made it impossible to detect by eye but has since worn away in several places, revealing the dark base metal underneath, especially on the obverse and the edge; the silvering has almost completely disappeared from the edge. The weight is slightly underweight, by a few grams.

Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
