I am a huge token guy, thank you for sharing. If you ever want to sell that Scotia Bank token I can think of 3 of us on this forum that would bid it up.

They were my grandpa's so I'm not sure if I can sell it right now. If I ever need the money I'll make sure to post it up here, though!

He was from Holland and was living between there and Canada, so he probably got them while being there which I think is pretty sweet. Has A LOT of really old Canadian coins in his collection too.

I don't know much about tokens, but how much do you think they could go for? Like, is there a big market for these or are there just the choice collectors out there?

Thanks!

Hey Brent, I was (half) joking about those tokens.
Alot of time they are only worth melt value for gold/silver or 50c for cupronickel.

I collect Municipal Trade Tokens, eh, and I was born in 1994 in a little town called Woodstock. There is a 1994 Woodstock NB trade token featuring the Saint James Anglican Church (a church I often played the harmonica in in a gospel band). In an instance like that you could probably;y sell that token to me for $10 where most would collectors may not want it.

As for the Scotia Bank token there are 3 (that I know of) Nova Scotia collectors on this board, Myself, Chequer and SPP-Ottawa. If you caught the 3 of us in a bidding war it could go high.

If you just inherited these coins and are bitten by the collector bug I HIGHLY recommend going into tokens. They can be bought dirty cheap and are so fascinating.

Sorry for writing a novel as a response.
Rest in Peace

As a grandpa myself I hope you never need to sell them. If you do, let me know. It would be worth $20 to me for you to keep them.

I really don't plan on selling them. I've just inherited his coin collection and I'm getting my father's soon (it's been a rough time recently)if my step mom ever gives them over. She's handing over half of my dad's so far and claiming she has to go through the rest because "some of them are hers". That's a huge lie.

Sorry, had to rant for a bit.

But I'm going through college right now and each year is more of a struggle, so I just never know what I'll have to do money-wise. I can promise it'd be a last resort.

Thanks for all of the information, everyone! I still do find them pretty interesting. I know I also have like 2 collectable medallions from a gun club or something. Not sure if they're worth anything. They're from the 2000's. Might be one day.

Thanks again!
