For those looking for a decent and cheap Album for coins, you may want to try Guardmaster brand. I just purchased my first one. Presently have well over 100 Albums, mostly Whitman and Dansco. However, in the future, if I can find them, I might start using more of the guardmaster brand. Cover is dark brown and looks like a book. Instructions say pages are removable but couldn't find out how. Each plastic page has removable slides that hold the coins and then slide back into the plastic page giving sort of double protection. A separate page with the dates on them and a place for your own info. Not a slot for the coins so coins could possibly move. Yet at least half the price of a Dansco or Whitman.

Good to see you expanding your album empire! These are the evolution of the old Harco albums. The old Harco albums used plasticized PVC, so they were not very good for coins. I am certain that the Guardmaster are safe though.

Sounds pretty good for the price. How do the different metals look in the book?

Quote: Sounds pretty good for the price. How do the different metals look in the book? The one I purchased is for Canadian Cents. Just went nuts trying to find a Whitman or Dansco for those. Since the coins go into a sort of plastic slot, then that is pushed into another plastic sheet, now looking through two pieces of plastic. Old darken Cents are difficult to see clearly. Sort of a better protection for the coins though. Quote: Good to see you expanding your album empire!
These are the evolution of the old Harco albums. Interesting to know. Hopefully not PVC pages. Did not stipulate anywhere what they are made of. Sure do look nice. Could put on a shelf as a book. I've had many other brands but got rid of them all except Dansco and Whitman. Now may start with more of the Guardsmaster/

I am 99.9% certain the Guardmaster are safe. I will need to find the source of that information, but you can probably tell by how stiff those pages are compared to ordinary vinyl pages.

I've been using Guardmaster and Coinmaster albums for years. I've had no problems with them.

I have had Gardmaster for two years now for all denominations of Canadian. Have bought from Gatewest and Collectors Supply House. Pages are removable. Just pull apart the three "snaps" on the spline. It takes quite a bit of pressure and do them one at a time. What I like is that I have used heavy weight paper and made my own back pages for years using MS Word so I can change the dates they come with or add pages and new dates.

I have also used them for 10 years , worked well, also made my own title pages for extras such as some varietys, or if you suffer from from completion syndrome
