Hi everyone,

It's been a while! My Shekel purchase put coin collecting on hold for a bit, but it was so worth it!

I recently bought my first artifact and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on it.

I've also read that it could be a cloak pin.

I thought it looked pretty interesting and in really good condition considering its age.

As always, your insights are very much appreciated!

Thanks so much,

Erin :)

Congrats on your first antiquity. I don't have much to offer, except a few links.

This is very similar-looking...it is described (on the page at romancoins.net that it links from) as "Roman Bronze Hair Pin; 2nd to 3rd Century AD; Found: Balkans":

Also very similar, this one described as a "large Roman bronze cloak or hair pin" - again, 2nd/3rd century, this one found in England:

And one more:

Thanks for the info Bob! I really appreciate it. :)

I think it's a neat piece to start out a collection with. I have a wish list of antiquities I'd like to get over the next few years. But, it's going to be hard to work on because it'll be in competition with my coin wish list. :P
