I think maybe the Eisenhower sets were made around the same time of the Truman. Remember they had posted the picture of the Eisenhower shortly after the Truman set was made. This makes me think that the Eisenhower sets were made already when the picture of the Ikes were posted. I would think these sets could be made in one day. I think maybe they had already destroyed the hub. The mint is in business to make money. Lowering the Eisenhower to two sets per household doesn't make them anymore money. I think it cost them money in extra postage cost.
As much as we would like to think that the mint wants a fairer distribution of their products, I dont believe its their primary motive.
Also this is a government agency, so no decision is made a rapid timeframe.

I really doubt it cost $4.95 to send 2 sets "smart"post so they make a couple of bucks on postage also... 3) correct..see #1

That price will drop. I think the Truman will be higher value than the Ike

Just curious....why?
I see no reason for the pre-sales (and post-sales)to be any LOWER than what the present Truman is selling for...

Fox,
My reasoning is that with the lower HH limit, more collectors will be able to get their hands on their sets, instead of the big name retailers buying dozens and setting the market.
I also believe that alot of collectors were caught off guard by this set (including a few on this site). Because of this alot of the sets purchased were bought to flip, especially since the HH was 5.
Do you feel otherwise? Would love to hear another take.

Quote: Mintage for this set is limited to 17,000 units. Orders will be limited to two units per household. The bureau will re-evaluate the order limit over the period this set is available for sale. I like that. They will re-evaluate the order limit then for a whole 30 minutes?

My take is there is ONLY 17k made period. That trumps the lower hh limit and any ripple effect it may produce. Like a tsunami overshadowing a ripple from a thrown stone... If anything ike may go for slightly more than truman due to him being a more popular president and the fact that he's already a huge "coin" president as well

In reading many forums and articles I never heard anyone that was logged into the website at noon complain that they couldn't get a set....and this was with a HH limit of 5
Yes, if they procrastinated and remembered at 1230p to get their coins you were toast but shame on them....
I logged on three different times and got 3 orders in with no difficulty (actual orders for other people not proxies).
SO reducing it to two won't change that..but..yes..the 1230p crowd will now have a chance to get orders in...and the big boys will still get their coins...that's a given
I guess we will see where the price is when the dust settles but I can see zero reasons for #2 to sell for less than #1...but I do see a decent possibility of it selling for more...
...and...I can't wait to see the HH limit of #4...I just hope they don't mess the new series up like they did with the Coin & Currency sets....

Quote: I like that. They will re-evaluate the order limit then for a whole 30 minutes? Yup, it just shows how truly clueless they are about demand and product. "Well if we only sell a couple of thousand sets we can raise it to 5 in a few weeks....don't worry..they'll buy 'em all eventually"

So do you think that will be a final number? Are the ones missing the returns? Will they come back out with 167 sets for sale?
