That is not a scratch, it was there before the strike. I was thinking XF45. Does the pre strike planchet damage add any premium? Or does it count as damage?

These little guys are so hard to grade. Based on your photos I don't think it would grade any lower than EF-45, and could possibly be low AU.

I think as a general rule, planchet flaws or other types of pre-strike damage do not add to the value and can very well detract from it. The damage on your coin is so small, it probably wouldn't make any difference; however, if the problem were more significant, it would very likely detract from the value.

As for grading a coin with a planchet flaw; it shouldn't really effect the grade, although TPGs may put a notation on the slab label so that it can be distinguished from PMD.

I'm low AU on this also. AU50 maybe 53. Gold is so easily scratched I don't think the scratch matters that much
