Hello folks - first time poster. nice community you have here.

I have made a pretty incredible find - an intact Raphael Thian "The Currency of the Confederate States" album. After doing some basic research this morning, it appears that there are only a handful of these known to exist.

My question to this forum - who are the experts that I should be contacting to document/analyze this find? It seems like Pierre Fricke is one. I found his website. Anyone else?

Thanks in advance for your help. I'll try and upload a picture.

Ken Lowe (RIP) of the Money Tree with his partner Myron Xenos found a copy after almost 100 years that was unknown, they sold it in a private treaty to Armand Champa (RIP) he had two copies in his amazing library that were sold by Bowers & Merena. There is some great write up in the Money Tree's Out on a Limb journal, and both copies are in Armand's Auction Catalogs I have all of the info including photos of the books, your's looks just like one Armand had, not the big one though. I can provide more info when I get home, I'm at the coffee shop at the moment. Meadowview clued me on to this thread/post.

THIS IS HUGE NEWS in the world of Numismatic literature. Do you want to keep it or sell it? If you are selling I have some ideas, feel free to PM me regarding this. George F. Kolbe would be the GOTO guy on this book or possibly Charles Davis. I can put you in touch with either of them if you'd like, just send a PM.

I decided to look at Stacks for a better photo of $500 Interest Bearing Note. While scrolling down through the numerous lots I noticed that there was a Thian's Confederate Currency album which reminded me of this post.

It is one and the same. The lot description also provides more detail about the discovery.

I thought members here might like to have an update on this piece.

Looks like this is the same copy as the OP posted about, it is expected to sell for around $50-80K a lot of money for a book! Wish he would come back and tell us more of the story.

The book sold for $49,937.50! I find that jaw dropping considering in the lot description it was almost tossed in the trash. Congrats to jsliles on saving this piece of history---karma she has smiled on you.
