My girls at the bank saved this one for me. I don't have to weigh it, if it was solid, I'd know it. Someone gold plated it, post PSD. I was tickled to get it and just wanted to share one of the anomalies that are available.

Really? And recover it? What all is involved? What is aqua regia? I've been saving up a lot of gold plated items until I could figure out a way to recover it. Sounds promising, tell me more.

Thanks Kid, this one is super nice. There is no wear on the plating whatsoever. I wouldn't recover the gold off of this one, it is so pretty.

To me it looks like he is blowing golden smoke. You can see it in his eye.

It is unrecoverable. It would be like trying to recover the paint off of a painted coin, to paint your living room with.

I read somewhere that each quarter contains some 7 mg of gold. If you do the math at today's spot price of 37.41 dollars per gram you come up with 25.9 cents of gold per coin. If you could recover 7 milligrams of gold, how much would you spend recovering it?

Okay, I see what you're saying. I'll check your figures, including the 7mg, if you're correct, I appreciate the info, if your not correct, I'll let you know. Thanks either way.
