Hi guys. I'm a total novice when it comes to error coins. Y'all have been a great help so far. Hopefully you don't mind continuing to educate me. I'm unclear as to what constitutes a d/d. The obvious ones are...well...obvious, but what about the grey areas? I have attached a couple of pics. Are these double-dies? In any case, are the obvious ones worth way more than the maybes? If so, should the cardinal rule be 'when in doubt, don't waste your time?'

Thanks for any and all feedback!

Well first off it's doubled die not double die and I don't see one in your pics. Get yourself a Cherry Pickers Guide,it has a section on doubled dies. Also look here http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...Doubling.htm

A D/D is a RPM. (mint mark punch over a second punch that was not in the same mint mark.
Double-Dies?

I think you were thinking doubled die. These are usually noted on the forum as:
DDO: Doubled Die Obverse
DDR: Doubled Die Reverse
These are caused by hub doubling that is not aligned correctly for different reasons.
