Nice coin. I've acquired many of these over the years. Catalog value places your coin around $3-$4. However, these coins were mass produced (nearly 100 million were made). So, the chances of you getting $3-$4 for it is unlikely. I'd say a reasonable price your average collector would be willing to pay is between 25 cents and $2 depending on the experience of the buyer. I have a ton of them in XF-40 condition that I picked up for around 10 cents each.

Depends on the market in your area. For me this coin is common as dirt and is nothing of interest. But in the US there might be some more interest. Regardless, it's still pretty common.

I wish they were worth some real money. I have a few 100 of these as well as several hundred other pre Euro Italian coins from when I lived in Sicily.

If you have any of these 500 lire coins http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces2716.html then you've hit silver. Otherwise I don't know of any valuable late pre-euro italian coins. The mintages were high all the way until the end.
