I have this Greek coin that I cannot seem to get a line on - perhaps someone can help me please?

The obverse looks like a (fem.) bust, or a head, depending on the light.
AE16 mm, 2.7 gm.

It is either Ptolemaic (the curved horn features on later Ptolemaic coins which I have identified for some people) or more unlikely Seleucid (the legend positioning on either side of the image reminds me of their issues.) Overall off the top of my head they do not belong to the earlier part of the respective series nor the latest part so a date between 245-100BC is what I would expect.

My best guess is a Bronze issue of Ptolemy II to commemorate Arisnoe II minted in Alexandria alongside the larger denominations of a similar design.

I see some letters on the reverse. Is it possible to make out in more detail what they are? Doing a search in acsearch.info using the keyword Cornucopia will show several different coin types. The reverse legend will pin it down better. .

Reverse legend and cornucopia seem to be a match here, TC...but I'm not sure your coin has jugate heads on the obverse...at least a place to start your research:

@ O.M.F., & O.D.M., & Ron, & to Bob, - I must give my heartfelt thanks.
Your comments will help me greatly. I don't know how you seem to know where to go, but I believe that it may come to me with time.
Thanks, again.

(Because of the time difference, I went to bed shortly after 'posting', so the day is just dawning, here.)

Bob my first thought was that it might be your reference, but I didn't see any sign of the jugate bust though it's difficult to tell on TC's coin. The more I look at it the more I think you got it.

Good identification Bob L the right side legend is consistent with the original post. Just a quick question how did you happen upon that issue? I haven't seen that one before.

OMF, your question was directed to TC, right? Or are you asking how I found the link?

Oh. I used coinproject.com's advanced search function, which can at times be quirky, but at other times (like this) can be very useful. On the Advanced Search page I used the drop-down menu for "Metal" and selected "Bronze," then typed in the Greek letters chi and epsilon in the "Reverse Legend" section (since those two letters are easy to see in TC's first pic) and, finally, typed in "cornucopia" in the "Reverse Description" box. I left all other fields blank.

Five coins resulted from this search, all the same issue - but I provided TC with the link to the clearest one (the best pic). One thing I like about coinproject.com (in addition to the advanced search function) is that each coin's information page includes a link to the original site from which the coin is taken...so in this case I provided not only the coinproject.com URL for the coin I found, but also the link to its original post at forumancientcoins.com.

Long reply, I know. But I'm warming to coinproject.com as of late...using it a lot for research recently. Fyi, it's managed by Alfred De La Fe of Agora Auctions.
