Just trying to get into paper money. I know that star notes are fairly rare and worth keeping. I want to know what serial number is considered unusual or "rare" and worth holding onto.

I usually do CRH but today I decided to try my first money straps of singles, well, $300 worth of singles, and I found one star note, one 1995 and 1999, and a serial number of 77777755. What else should I keep and what should I take back to the bank?

The first thing to do is to buy a basic book on the subject. I strongly suggest "Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money" by Schwartz and Lindquist, availble for a small outlay on Amazon. Spend some time on this volume and many of your questions will be answered.

With currency, it's all about the condition. The closer it is to uncirculated, the better. Yes, star bills are desirable and "some" folks like unique serial numbers. Unless the 1995 and 1999 series are in near perfect condition, I would probably spend 'em.
