I went to 2 banks today, and one had a TON of older notes that the tellers had been saving for me. One was a 1977 $50 star note, are they worth anything? I'll be picking all of the bills up tomorrow since I have my change from the past 6 months rolled and ready for exchange.

Also, I happened to get a 2006 $1 star note from the other bank among just five singles, as I had an extra $5 to trade just for the heck of it. It's from a high print run though, and it's pretty worn for its age, so I'll end up releasing it eventually.

Condition is important. Run size is important.

I didn't get it... after seeing the condition, I wouldn't break even after ebay fees and shipping charges, so I decided to let it go. But I did get some older 20s to compensate.

Here's the way I look at it: Do you really want to tie up that sort of money in a circulated note that may well never show any appreciation after commissions? I always say, you had better really like everything you own, because you'll never have enough money to own everything you really like.
