I don't know anything about errors, but this recent dime purchase stuck out from the rest. The left side of the rim has a groove down the middle. Is this just from wear or possible error of some kind? I'm guessing wear...

Does that sort of thing increase it's value at all or not really? @Pete: The back's edge is worn flat.

Nice coin and definitely carries a premium, how much is hard to say.
The green stuff might be PVC residue, an acetone soak won't harm the coin and might remove the PVC crud.
Can you post an image of the reverse?
