While looking through ebay for silver I found this ad, it's a lot of money. There are two pieces of silver each around 5 inches long. My best guess is that would amount to 1 or two ounces of sterling silver at the most.
I'm okay with a free market but the asking price seems kind of High
The puzzling part of the ad is that the package weighs "in excess of 24 pounds"
What am I missing? Here is the link to the ad below.

A typo? It is weird. Birks is high-end but that price is ridiculous.

Just over 3 hours to go on the listing and no bids yet. It's a tough one, some nice collectible sterling silver utensils or plus or minus 700 American Silver Eagles for the same money.
Life is too short to have to make a decision like this.
I'll keep watching, there must be a lot of people planning to pounce on this in the last few seconds.

Two hours and 50 minutes to go. I thought about tuning in to the PanAm games but I'm afraid I may miss some of the action on this fork and spoon deal. Let's all keep in mind that the package weighs in excess of 24 pounds.... that's a lot of packing peanuts.

There is a always a small chance that someone important once used it. Who knows, maybe Elvis ate some cherry pie with it. Cool that the seller is not boasting about that just to inflate the price.

Stay tuned, I'm pretty sure the bidding could get going at any moment.

Sadly I can't continue to watch and up date on this exciting auction. I have to start making supper. At the moment that I write this there is 1 hour and 45 minutes left and all the buyers are biding their time for now.

The tension is so thick you could stack ten tubes of Libertads on it.

I look forward to seeing what happens next, I must however for now say ADIEU

Man, what a let down. The seller must have been hoping there was someone out there that did not need a new car or something.

Maybe some Saudi prince would have liked to have them.

Captain Jack Blacks girl friend could have brought them to Australia and not gotten in trouble. (As long as she declared them).

I've been pretty cold with my humor towards the auction. I should really think more about the seller. Perhaps he was hoping to buy 700 ASEs.
Anyway, my fun is done. I'm grateful to all that read my comments and apologies to anyone who thought I was wasting time.

I am here to learn and today I've learned that there are some optimistic people out there.
regards all
